artlantic wall project
REMEMBER REMEMBER
Built by the Nazi regime between 1942 and 1944, the Atlantic Wall is a 5,000 km–long system of 8,119 bunkers stretching along the Atlantic coast across six countries: Norway, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. Due to the durability of the material, many of these structures remain in place as abandoned relics of World War II, embedded in the landscape.
Today, sociocultural and artistic initiatives temporarily occupy and transform this largely neglected war architecture to address themes such as migration, separation, and discrimination.
The intervention uses the repeated word “Remember” as a visual marker, creating awareness of contemporary challenges in Europe and questioning the repetition of history.
The project includes two painted bunkers — one main bunker and one side bunker — located in Ørland, Norway.
